Abstract

Myths were not only created in the ancient World. Every day the contemporary man participates in the creation of stories which will, trough a certain period of time, be regarded as myths of the time they were created in. Greek mythology and culture influenced Roman mythology to a great extent and from there it spread all over the World establishing the foundations of the Western civilization. Abrahamic religions adopted numerous mythological stories into their traditions. The story of the flood, which has its place in the folklore of many peoples, is one of the best examples for the comparison of stories from the mythological material and Abrahamic tradition. In this paper, attention will be devoted to the Epic of Gilgamesh, myth about Deucalion and to the Abrahamic stories about Noah.
